George B's 1963 Corvette Coupe
George B came into coybilt looking to restore his 1963 corvette coupe.
The car came completely apart in a host of 3 days, carfulley baging and tagging each item for restoration and later use. The emphasis was to make a really nicely restored numbers matching 63 split window corvette.
The car was in pretty good shape to begin with so the only hard part was tracking down numbers matching parts for the car. The car was originally built march 15 1963, which made it a early to mid year corvette. Coybilt restored every chassis component and re applied every correct inspection mark to the chassis. Every bolt on the chassis was either re-zinced or replaced with correct original hardware, a factory correct exhaust was installed by coybilt and is a work of art from Gardner products. The next step was the engine which took a slight twist the owner wanted a little hotter engine then stock and wanted a date coded correct engine. The engine is a 355 built in Los angles,Ca by a builder the owner sourced. The engine uses a small journal 350 crank and a over bore of .030 obtain the 355 cubic inch size. The cylinder heads were ported/polished which helped this little 340 hp small block obtain 353 hp and 402 ftlbs of torque. This just shows that original horse power numbers were inflated. The Body went of to
FZ restoration for body/paint work, while the chassis was restored and finsihed at coybilt.
The chassis and body were reunited to make sure the body gaps could be checked and panels fitted. The body will be in paint very soon and coybilt will be reassembling the car with date coded glass and a host of restored interior components. This car has a very high level of detail that is expected for a corvette of this
